Northern White Rhino Sudan: Last Male dies in Kenya

World’s last male northern white Rhino has died after months of poor health, leaving only two females his daughter and grand-daughter left to save the subspecies from extinction.

The 45-year-old rhino named Sudan lived at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya had been in poor health in recent days and was being treated for age-related issues and multiple infections.
A veterinary team and his caretakers made the decision to euthanize Sudan after his condition deteriorated significantly, the conservation group WildAid announced Tuesday.
Jan Stejskal, an official at Dvur Kralove Zoo in the Czech Republic saying,
His death is a cruel symbol of human disregard for nature and it saddened everyone who knew him,” where Sudan had lived until 2009.”But we should not give up,
Elodie Sampere, a representative for Ol Pejeta saying that,
“He was a gentle giant, a lot of people were afraid of him there was nothing mean about him because his personality was just amazing and pleasant according to his size”

What did Sudan die from?

The elderly White rhino was being treated for multiple disorders in his body like degenerative changes in his muscles and bones, combined with extensive skin wounds.At his last 24 hours, he was unable to stand up and suffering a great deal, Sudan was put down by veterinarians and caretakers at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
