Couple lives rent-free after converting Coke truck into tiny dream home
Paul Battenally and Clara Trindall’s journey of converting a 2005 Isuzu Coca-Cola truck into a spacious mobile home is a testament to their adventurous spirit and resourcefulness. Despite the challenges they faced, including finding a suitable vehicle and accommodating Battenally’s height, they transformed the truck into their ideal travel companion.
With Battenally’s carpentry skills and determination, they spent 11 months and $17,500 on the conversion project. This investment allowed them to create a comfortable living space that suited their needs, enabling them to fulfill their dream of exploring Australia.
Moving into their home on wheels in November 2021, Battenally and Trindall embarked on a journey of saving money for their ultimate adventure. In January 2023, armed with approximately 40,000 Australian dollars, they set out on the open road, fully prepared to embrace the freedom and spontaneity of life on the move.
Wisely allocating their funds, the couple invested in essential appliances, electrical work, plumbing, and fixtures, ensuring that their mobile home was equipped for long-term living. Additionally, they allocated a significant portion of their budget to acquiring materials to outfit their Coca-Cola truck home, further customizing it to suit their preferences and needs.
Through their dedication, creativity, and careful planning, Battenally and Trindall turned an unconventional choice into a remarkable adventure, proving that with determination and ingenuity, the possibilities for exploration and discovery are endless.
