Inspiring Couple made a bold decision in 2021: they sold their four-bedroom house in Canada and opted for a more adventurous lifestyle, moving into a van
Driven by a desire for simplicity and freedom, Tanya, an environmental educator, and Arya, a photographer, found joy in the nomadic lifestyle. However, as months passed, they craved more space and opted for a school bus, a decision fueled by their desire to repurpose a retired vehicle and embark on new adventures. Their journey began with the purchase of a retired school bus from a Facebook Marketplace listing, a serendipitous find that provided them with up-to-date maintenance records, ensuring the bus was well cared for.
With determination and resourcefulness, the couple undertook a six-month renovation project, recycling materials and diligently transforming the bus into a cozy home on wheels. Despite weather challenges and a relentless work schedule, they stayed committed to their vision, fueled by the prospect of escaping the Canadian winter for sunny Baja California, Mexico.
Their efforts resulted in a stunning conversion, complete with a king-sized bed, custom living room, and a fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom. Skylights flood the space with natural light, while solar panels enable off-grid living—a testament to their commitment to sustainability.
Yet, their journey is far from over. While they currently enjoy life on the road, the couple plans to explore other tiny living options and eventually settle on Vancouver Island to build their dream home.
But for now, their beloved school bus continues to inspire connections and adventures, a symbol of their unwavering spirit and commitment to living life on their own terms.
