Architect Jakub Szczęsny was the architect who designed and lived in the Keret House in Warsaw, Poland. Officially, this is the narrowest house in the world.
Though it doesn’t comply with Polish building rules, the incredibly narrow house is officially referred to as a “art installation.” Nevertheless, many artists who are accepted to live here must apply. Etgar Keret, a Jewish/Israeli author, was the home’s principal occupant and supporter; he also gave the residence its name.
The 2012-built Keret House is positioned between two structures that date back to two distinct historical periods. You might not have even noticed it as you passed if you were unaware of it.
The first is a brick structure on Zelazna Street that is essentially a relic from the pre-World War II city. According to Szczesny, the second is a communal concrete residential building that is a component of a “imposed structure.”
The width of the house is only 36 inches at its narrowest point. when it was the widest—60 inches, or five feet.
