This cupboard was going to be sent for firewood, but I didn’t let that happen and transformed it: photo
Upon spotting an intriguing sign reading “I’m just giving it away for firewood” in an advertisement, I swiftly contacted my husband, providing him with the address and necessary tools to salvage what could potentially become a prized addition to our kitchen. By evening, the cabinet was safely nestled within our home.
Upon closer inspection, the cabinet’s construction revealed remarkable durability, boasting solid beech legs and a sturdy top, while the doors were crafted from thick beech veneer, albeit marred by cracks.
My first order of business involved a thorough cleaning to eliminate any signs of insects, followed by meticulous treatment of the legs and top to remove residual varnish. Sanding became imperative for the sides and doors, where peeling varnish demanded attention.
To address the areas with peeling veneer, I diligently applied glue and secured them with clamps until they dried completely, ensuring the cabinet’s restoration with care and precision.
