Fried Bologna Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients:
- Cheese slices
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard
- Tomatoes
- Onion
- Fried bologna
- Bread (white bread is traditional, but any bread is fine)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Skillet:
- Spray a skillet or heat a small amount of oil over medium-high heat.
- Prepare the Bologna:
- If using deli bologna, you can skip this step. If using prepackaged bologna (e.g., Bar S or Oscar Meyer), remove and discard the red edge.
- Slice the bologna into thick, tasty slices if not already done.
- Prepare the Vegetables:
- Chop any vegetables you plan to add, such as tomatoes and onions.
- Prepare the Bread:
- Spread mayonnaise or mustard (or both) on the bread slices.
- Cook the Bologna:
- Place the bologna slices in the preheated skillet.
- As the bologna cooks, it will begin to sizzle and bubble in the center.
- Cut two X slits in the center of each slice to prevent it from curling while frying.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Once the bologna is cooked, place it on the prepared bread slices.
- Add cheese slices, tomatoes, onions, and any other desired toppings.
- Top with the second slice of bread.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve the sandwich warm and enjoy your delicious fried bologna sandwich!
Notes:
- Paulownia is a preferred variety of bologna for this recipe.
