Fried Bologna Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Cheese slices
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • Tomatoes
  • Onion
  • Fried bologna
  • Bread (white bread is traditional, but any bread is fine)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Skillet:
    • Spray a skillet or heat a small amount of oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Prepare the Bologna:
    • If using deli bologna, you can skip this step. If using prepackaged bologna (e.g., Bar S or Oscar Meyer), remove and discard the red edge.
    • Slice the bologna into thick, tasty slices if not already done.
  3. Prepare the Vegetables:
    • Chop any vegetables you plan to add, such as tomatoes and onions.
  4. Prepare the Bread:
    • Spread mayonnaise or mustard (or both) on the bread slices.
  5. Cook the Bologna:
    • Place the bologna slices in the preheated skillet.
    • As the bologna cooks, it will begin to sizzle and bubble in the center.
    • Cut two X slits in the center of each slice to prevent it from curling while frying.
  6. Assemble the Sandwich:
    • Once the bologna is cooked, place it on the prepared bread slices.
    • Add cheese slices, tomatoes, onions, and any other desired toppings.
    • Top with the second slice of bread.
  7. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve the sandwich warm and enjoy your delicious fried bologna sandwich!

Notes:

  • Paulownia is a preferred variety of bologna for this recipe.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of bread and toppings to suit your taste.
